LOOKING AHEAD
Thanks to a grant award from the North Carolina
Land and Water Fund, we will acquire the land
and structures that make up the Pauli Murray
Center in 2026. This will allow us to begin
phased development of Murray’s ancestral land
(The Green), and finalize plans for our future
Welcome and Education Center.
These combined impacts of land acquisition and
land development will provide opportunities
for families to enjoy open space, for students
and educators to engage with history, and for
community groups to host events that connect
the past to present-day social justice issues. By
being rooted in community use, the Welcome
and Education Center will inspire joy through
learning and healing.
The Center will continue to create
opportunities for all community
members to engage with history
while finding inspiration, guidance,
and hope in Pauli’s activism. We
are well positioned to execute
this work in the midst of a new,
yet familiar, chapter in American
society and culture. Our work
will offer community the courage
to be hopeful in a volatile world.
To support this vision, we look
ahead towards mounting two
transformative projects at our
National Historic Landmark.
